Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. The reporting she did included plenty of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, budget and tax reform in addition to the arms control. She traveled widely with President Reagan during summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
